Stevia is a plant that grows in South America, from whose leaves it is possible to extract a sweetener many times sweeter than normal sugar. This plant was alread used as medicinal plant 500 years ago because of its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect. As it does not influence the glycaemic index, stevia can be used by diabetics as well. Stevia is low-calorie and has a positive effect on the stabilization of the blood pressure.
